Hello, Galashiels we are Merlin Cinemas. From 13th June, we will be the new owners of Pavilion Cinema!

We're back online! Tickets from 13th June are available to book now! This is also the case for our Movie Magic Discount Cards and Gift Cards.

Online ticket booking, Movie Magic and Gift Card sales have been temporarily switched off as planned to allow for our systems to transfer over. Service will resume on Wednesday.

We want to assure you that things won't change too much from what you're used to but we will be bringing a little of our Merlin magic to Galashiels with us! Ticket prices will be a little different and we will be offering allocated seating so you can choose your seats when you book. Have a look around the website but here are some quick pointers
Please be aware Movie Magic and Gift Cards can also be purchased now but cannot be used until 13th June. Additionally, as we make the final changes to the system all online purchasing will be temporarily offline on Wednesday 11th June. See you soon!

The Poole family, who have lovingly operated Pavilion Cinema for the past 31 years, are moving on to new adventures! We wish them the very best. We also have over 30 years experience running cinemas and operate a group of independent cinemas across the UK. We're excited to meet you.

Andrew Poole (Cinema Manager) said: "After 31 years of running the Pavilion Cinema we now feel the time is right to pass the baton on. Over the past 31 years, my family and I have enjoyed tremendous support from over 3 million amazingly loyal customers and we can't thank them enough for their custom, through the good times and the bad times.
But we leave the Pavilion cinema in very safe hands. Merlin has over 20 sites across the UK including two other Scottish sites in Ayr and Thurso.
Over the past three decades we have invested over £750,000 in the cinema with the conversion to digital cinema in 2011, the replacing of all our seats in 2016 and the upgrade of the sound system to Dolby 7.1 surround in 2020. We've survived the Covid crisis, the cost of living crisis a couple of writers strikes and the recent actors strike. And the cinema is still here.
The greatest asset this business has is its staff and without their unwavering support, hard work and dedication over the past 31 years, we wouldn't have a business to hand over to Merlin. So, I would like to thank all of them, past and present, for their time over the past 31 years. I'm delighted to say that all our employees will be transferred to Merlin with their employment continuing with them."

This much-loved venue has a rich history and a loyal audience, and we are excited to build on that legacy.
