Stand-Up Comedy (October 2015) - Live at the Regal Theatre
The Regal Theatre is pleased to present the next STAND-UP COMEDY night. A side-splitting evening of stand-up comedy with some of the very best acts from TV and the UK's prestigious comedy club circuit:
Headliner for the show is fun loving Geordie, circuit veteran and Edinburgh Comedy Award winner Dave Johns who is an improv maestro, he's a regular at the Comedy Store's famous weekly 'Cutting Edge' show and in his 20 years on the comedy circuit has supported and toured with everyone from Lee Evans to Michael McIntyre. He's currently on tour supporting Sean Lock.
Compere for Jools Holland's 'Later', Kevin is an improv maestro and coupled with his ridiculous gags and groan worthy puns he'll tickle your funny bones from start to finish!
Canadian award winner with his mischievous and rude brand of dry, dark but irrepressibly youthful comedy. Paul plays all the top UK comedy clubs and regularly entertains our armed forces overseas.
Cheeky cockney with hilarious tales of riotous shenanigans and misad¬venture. He's supported Micky Flanagan and with acts like Frank Skinner singing his praises, it won't be long until he's filling theatres himself.

Hooked On Hits - Final Tour 2015 - Dr Hook Featuring Ray Sawyer
With regret Dr Hook’s Ray Sawyer has had to cancel his tour due to a broken leg.
Please contact the Regal Theatre to arrange a refund if you have already purchased tickets.
Dr. Hook & the Medicine Show, shortened in 1975 to Dr. Hook, was an American band, formed around Union City, New Jersey. They enjoyed considerable commercial success in the 1970s with hit singles including "Sylvia's Mother", "The Cover of Rolling Stone", "A Little Bit More" and "When You're in Love with a Beautiful Woman". In addition to their own material, Dr Hook and the Medicine Show performed songs written by the poet Shel Silverstein. The band had eight years of regular chart hits, in both the U.S. and the UK, and greatest success with their later gentler material, as Dr Hook.
When told by a club owner that they needed a name to put on a poster in the window of his establishment, Cummings made a sign: "Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show: Tonic for the Soul". The "Hook" name was inspired by Sawyer's eyepatch and a reference to "Captain Hook" of the Peter Pan fairy tale, though, humorously, because Captain Hook was neither a doctor nor wore an eyepatch. The "medicine show" and "doctor" (referring to the shows common in the 19th century) were intended as tongue-in-cheek support for drug abuse. Ray Sawyer lost an eye in a near-fatal car crash in Oregon in 1967, and has worn an eyepatch ever since. To this day, Sawyer is considered Dr. Hook because of the eyepatch he wears.
